During the PC Era, trainers used to do a video disk and CD-ROM based training. The content of it was useful, however it was not able to track the progress very well. After PC networking was created, and developers invented the tracking standard Aviation Industry Computer- Based Training Committee (AICC), which was allowing them to track the progress on the server. Later on, this evolved to Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM), which helped them track any form of e-learning content in the database, track completion and save the score. This itself led to the creation of Training Management System and Learning Management System (LMS).
