How to Get the Most Out of Your L&D Conference

Once you’ve made the investment and time commitment to attend an L&D conference, you’ll want to ensure you make the most of the experience. Here are a few tips to do just that, based on what we’ve observed at years of CLN events.

Bring a List of Challenges

Our conferences cover a wide spectrum of the most pressing issues L&D professionals are facing, and with concurrent sessions running over a few days, it’s important to select the topics that are most relevant to your organizational goals. Before traveling to the conference venue, take a few minutes to consider the challenges you are facing, from leadership development to implementing AI to a multitude of other potential hurdles, and cross-reference them with the available panel and breakout sessions. You’ll gather the most relevant information for your specific circumstances by pre-selecting the sessions you’ll attend, instead of deciding in the moment onsite.

Prioritize Networking

The connections forged at L&D conferences are invaluable, as they present a unique opportunity for attendees to collaborate with peers facing the same challenges and share solutions that have achieved results. Some of the best networking opportunities are during the breaks in between sessions, so stay onsite at this time in common areas to have coffee and meet your next potential business partner or collaborator.

Ask Questions

Our speakers and panelists will address the pressing L&D topics outlined in each session abstract and will each add their own unique spin based on their own experiences solving the issues being addressed. They’ll share specific case studies on how they’ve approached challenges such as transforming into a skills-based organization, creating a culture of learning, implementing effective L&D programs for deskless workers, and much more. If you hear a success story but aren’t sure how to leverage the knowledge to achieve the same results at your company, our speakers are typically happy to assist during Q&A and after the session.

Keep all of these best practices in mind when you attend CLW October, next month from October 7-9th in Atlanta. Going into the conference with our unique goals, problems, and questions will ensure you leave with the best information possible to transform your L&D programs and propel your organization forward. If you haven’t registered, there’s still time!
